Noor Fruit

Noor Fruit is located in Sant Nagar, over in the East of Kailash area. Every morning starts very early for us, long before most people are even awake. We have to get the fruit from the big markets and bring it back to the shop while it’s still fresh. By the time the sun is up, we are busy sorting through crates of apples, bananas, and whatever else is in season. Some days the mangoes are perfect, and other days we have to spend a lot of time throwing out the ones that got bruised during transport. It’s a constant battle with the heat to keep everything looking good on the shelves. The shop in Sant Nagar is small, so we put some of the crates out on the sidewalk to show what we have. People from the neighborhood stop by on their way home from work to pick up something for dinner. We know a lot of the regulars by name and we know who likes their papaya a bit firm and who wants it soft. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on people walking by and seeing the colors of the fruit. It can get pretty sticky and sweet-smelling in here, especially in the summer. We just keep cleaning the floor and rearranging the baskets to make sure everything looks alright for the next person who walks in.
