Oberoi Paints Private Limited

Mayapuri is a tough place to work because it’s so crowded and noisy. Our shop, Oberoi Paints, is right on the main road in Phase II, near the ICICI bank. If you come by, you’ll probably see stacks of paint cans everywhere. We spend most of our time mixing colors and helping people figure out what kind of finish they need for their walls or metalwork. The air always smells a bit like chemicals and fresh pigment. It’s an industrial area, so there is constant traffic and the sound of heavy trucks. We aren't a big corporate showroom. It's more of a warehouse feel where we get our hands dirty. My apron is covered in different shades of blue and white. We have a few machines for shaking the cans and getting the tint right. Sometimes a customer is unhappy because the color looks different under their lights than it does here, so we have to explain how that happens. It’s just the nature of the business. We keep a lot of stock on the shelves because people usually want things right away. The main road gets really backed up in the evenings, so we try to get most of our shipping done in the mornings. It's a busy, messy, and honest way to make a living. We’ve been in this spot for a while and we just know our paints and how they behave.
