We've been here at Ballimaran in Chandni Chowk for a long time. People around here know us for the leather footwear we make and sell. It is always crowded in this part of Delhi, but that is just how the market works. If you walk down the narrow lane past the old shops, you will find us at number 5225. We mostly focus on chappals, the kind that last a few seasons at least. There is not much space inside the shop, so boxes are usually stacked up all the way to the ceiling. It is a family thing that has been passed down over years. We do not really do fancy ads or anything like that. People just come in because they need a pair of shoes that will not fall apart on the first rainy day. Sometimes it gets very loud with all the rickshaws and people shouting outside, but we just keep working. The leather we use is sourced locally from suppliers we have known forever. We spend our days cutting, stitching, and talking to the regulars who drop by to see what is new. It is not a big factory, just a small place where things get made by hand. We try to keep our prices fair because we know the people who buy from us. The smell of glue and leather is always there in the air. My uncle handles the billing while I look after the stock.
