Working out of Anand Parbat in Gali No 4 is always busy. This industrial area is never really quiet, with all the trucks coming in and out. Our spot at A/26 N is where we handle all the fabric work. It’s mostly about the machines running and making sure the cycles are finished on time. We deal with a lot of bulk loads. The floors are usually a bit damp and there is always a faint smell of cleaning agents in the air. It’s not a glamorous job, just a lot of sorting, washing, and checking things over. The workers have their routine. We start early when the air is still a bit cool before the heat of the afternoon hits the metal roof. Gali No 4 can get blocked up easily, so getting deliveries in or out is always a bit of a puzzle. We have some regular clients who have been sending their stuff here for years. They know how we work. It’s just a straightforward operation. No big office or reception area, just the main floor where everything happens. We spend most of the day on our feet. Lunch is usually eaten quick in the corner before the next batch is ready. It’s been like this for a long time now. You get used to the hum of the motors and the steam from the presses.
