We run Ishtiyak Tichkule Scrap Works out in Kapashera Village. If you go down Surya Vihar Wali Gali, you’ll find us easily enough. It’s a busy, dusty spot, but that’s the nature of the scrap business. We take in all sorts of old metal, junk, and leftovers that people don’t want anymore. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and sorting through piles of stuff. Sometimes we find things that are actually quite useful, and other times it’s just a mountain of rust. We don’t have a polished office or even a proper sign most of the time. People just know where we are. It’s hard work, and your clothes get dirty pretty fast, but it’s a living. We deal with a lot of locals and small contractors who bring us what they’ve cleared out from their sites. We try to be quick with the weighing and the payments because nobody wants to spend all day in a scrap yard. The lane can get tight when a big truck comes through, so there’s usually a bit of shouting and directing to get everyone parked right. We aren’t fancy people. We just know our metals and we know how to move them. It’s been our life for quite some time now, right here in the village. We just keep our heads down and do the work, regardless of the weather outside.
