Channa Ice Cream Parlour

If you’ve ever been near Tis Hazari, you know it’s a place that’s always moving. Our ice cream parlour is tucked away there. It’s a simple spot, nothing like those fancy parlours you see in the bigger markets. We have three large freezers that make a constant humming sound all day. That noise is just part of the background for us now. We mostly serve the people coming and going from the courts. They’re often tired and looking for something cold to help with the Delhi heat. We have the usual flavors, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and sometimes a bit of mango when it’s in season. We don't do those complicated sundaes with twenty different toppings. It’s usually just a scoop in a cup or a cone. The shop is small, so there isn’t really anywhere to sit inside. People usually just grab their ice cream and head back out to the street. We keep a stack of napkins on the counter because the ice cream melts almost immediately once people step outside. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, which is always a worry, but we have a small generator to keep the freezers running. We don’t want everything to turn into soup. It’s a straightforward business. We show up, we serve the ice cream, and we go home. It’s just a regular part of the local area.
