Baskin Robbins

Baskin Robbins is over in Chanakyapuri on Shanti Path, right near the American Embassy. It is a pretty prestigious area, but our shop is just a normal little place. We have these big glass freezers that run all day and night. The sound of the compressors is something you just get used to after a week of working here. We spend a lot of time wiping the glass because people are always leaning on it to see the different colors of the ice cream. It is a small shop, so if a big group comes in, it feels very full very quickly. We don't have a lot of places to sit, just a couple of small stools against the wall. Most people prefer to take their ice cream and walk along the greenery of Shanti Path anyway. We have to keep a close eye on the temperature because if the power goes out, we are in big trouble. The floor gets sticky very easily from drips, so we are constantly mopping up. It is a simple job, really. We just scoop the ice cream and talk to the people who come in. We see a lot of families and people who work in the embassies nearby. Sometimes we run out of the napkins or the small spoons, and we have to run to the back to find more. It is just a regular day-to-day routine for us here.
