Agrawal Deshi Ghee Paneer Bhandar

Our shop is right in the middle of the Shahdara Mandoli Road Market at 1/2297/A. It’s a busy area and you can usually find us by looking for the big stacks of steel containers. We mostly handle deshi ghee and paneer, which means the whole place has that specific dairy smell that stays on your clothes. The floor is often a bit slippery from the water used to keep the paneer fresh, so we have to be careful when moving around. We have a big wooden counter where we cut the paneer blocks into whatever size the customer wants. It’s usually me and two other guys working here, and we don't have much time for sitting down once the morning rush starts. People come from all over the Mandoli area because they know we’ve been here at this same spot for a long time. The walls are tiled halfway up so they are easier to wash down at the end of the day. We don't use any fancy machines, just old-fashioned scales and sharp knives. In the afternoon when it gets a bit quieter, we sit on the plastic crates and have our lunch while watching the rickshaws go by. It’s a simple business, nothing complicated about it. We just show up, get the fresh stock in, and sell it to the people who walk by our door every day. It’s just how we make our living here.
