Radha Bricks Field

Out here on Giriyak Road in Kujha, the Radha Bricks Field is where we spend most of our time. It’s a pretty rural spot in the Nardiganj area. We’ve got a lot of space out here which is good because we need it for laying out all the bricks to dry in the sun. If you come by Domawar, you’ll likely see our chimneys. The work is mostly seasonal because we can’t do much when the heavy rains hit the fields. During the summer, though, the place is buzzing with activity. We have workers from all over the local area helping out. It’s a lot of bending over and picking things up, so everyone stays pretty fit. We use the dirt from right around here, which makes the bricks have that specific color people like. We aren't trying to build an empire; we just want to provide for our families and help the locals build their shops and homes. Sometimes the road out here gets a bit rough for the big lorries, but we manage to get the bricks out one way or another. We don't have any polished sales pitches. If the bricks look good and they’re solid, people buy them. That’s how it’s always been for us in Nardiganj. It’s a quiet life except for the clinking of the bricks being stacked. We’ve seen many seasons come and go in this field, and we plan to stay as long as the clay holds out. It’s just what we do.
