We are out here at Survey No. 40 in Village Palgam. If you know the Solsumba area near Umbergaon, you probably know where we are. It’s just a small spot where we handle all our Raju Spices work. Honestly, it gets pretty dusty around here in the summer months, but we just get on with it. People from Valsad district come by sometimes, though mostly we are just busy with the daily grinding and packing. The post office in Solsumba is where we go for all our mail stuff. It isn’t a fancy office with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just a shed and some machines and a lot of bags of raw materials piled up in the corners. My cousin helps out with the loading when it gets busy. Some days the power goes out for an hour or two, so we just sit outside and wait for it to come back. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that, just a few of us making sure the spices get put into the right bags. We’ve been at this same spot for quite some time now and the neighbors know us well. It’s a quiet village mostly, except when the trucks come in. We don't really do much else besides work. Sometimes the smell of the chillies makes everyone sneeze, but that is just part of the job I guess. We stay busy enough and try to get everything finished before the sun goes down over Palgam.
