Maa Vindhyavasini Devi Hindi Vidyalay

Located at Number 2 in Umbergaon, our school, Maa Vindhyavasini Devi Hindi Vidyalay, is a pretty humble place. Since we’re in the Valsad district, we get a lot of local families who want their kids to learn in Hindi. The school isn't very big. We have a few rooms and a small area for the children to assemble in the mornings. It’s a bit old-fashioned, maybe, but it works for us. We don’t have a lot of high-tech equipment or anything like that. It’s mostly just chalkboards, benches, and books. The teachers here are people who live nearby. We all walk or take the bus to get here. It gets quite humid being in this part of Gujarat, so the classrooms can get a bit stuffy in the afternoons, but we just open the windows and get on with it. We spend a lot of time making sure the kids stay on track with their lessons. Sometimes we have to remind them to keep their uniforms tidy or to stop talking in the hallways. It’s the kind of stuff you’d expect at any neighborhood school. We don't have a big marketing department or anything. People just know us because we’ve been here in Umbergaon for years. It’s a simple, honest way to spend the day, teaching the kids and helping them grow up. We just keep the doors open and do our best with what we have.
