Vicky Fashion Ltd. is located in the TTC Industrial Area, specifically A-412 in MIDC Mahape. It’s a big, grey area with lots of trucks and warehouses. The air always smells a bit like machinery and exhaust from the nearby plants. Our unit is basically a large room filled with sewing machines and rolls of cloth. It gets quite loud when everyone is working at once. We don’t have fancy carpets or glass walls here. It’s a functional industrial workplace. The workers come in early, usually around eight, and the tea stall outside is our main meeting point before the shift starts. We’ve had some issues with the internet lately, which makes things difficult when we need to check emails, but we manage. Mahape is a long commute for some of us, but the trains are okay if you catch the right one at the right time. We’ve been in this building for several years now. The floor is concrete and has some cracks, but it holds up under the weight of the machines. We make clothes for all sorts of clients, and there’s always a deadline looming. Sometimes we have to work through the weekend if a big order comes in late. It’s not glamorous, but it’s honest work. We don’t put on airs. If you come by, you’ll likely see us in the middle of a mess of threads and patterns. We just try to get the packages out the door on time every day.
