About Riba Sarees – Fashion & Trends in Navi Mumbai
Our shop is over at Shiv D in Sanpada, and it has been our second home for a long time. It is not a huge place, but we have managed to fit a lot of sarees onto the shelves. Every morning we open up the shutters and start the day by dusting everything off, because the dust from the street always finds its way inside. We have piles of cottons and silks everywhere, and by the afternoon, the counters are usually covered in fabric that we have shown to customers. Sanpada is a lively area, and there is always something going on right outside our door. Sometimes it gets a bit cramped when three or four families come in at once, but we make do with the space we have. We spend a lot of time just talking to people and helping them find a specific color they saw somewhere else. It is a lot of folding and unfolding, and our arms get a bit tired by the time evening rolls around. We usually keep a pot of tea going in the back for when things slow down for a few minutes. It is a simple life here, just surrounded by colors and the sound of the local traffic. We know most of the regular people who walk past every day. The lights inside are a bit bright to show off the embroidery, but that is just how a saree shop has to be.
