If you go to Vashi, you can find I Ahmed & Co at the Mafco area in Sector 18. We are at units 34 and 36. This place is right in the middle of all the market action. It is usually very busy with people carrying goods and tempos trying to navigate the narrow spaces. Our unit is mostly for storage and handling the daily trade. It is a dusty place because of all the movement outside, but that is just how it is in Sector 18. We have been here for quite some time, dealing with the local merchants and suppliers. The office is just a small cabin inside the warehouse where we keep the ledgers and a telephone. We do not have any fancy furniture, just some old chairs and a wooden table. Most of our work involves checking the stock as it comes off the trucks. We have a few guys who help with the heavy lifting and the sorting. It is a straightforward business, no complicated stuff. We start early when the market opens and stay until the last delivery is sorted. You can always hear the shouting of the loaders and the honking of horns from the street. It is a tough environment but it is where we do our best work. We just focus on getting the orders right and making sure the counts match our books.
