Our workshop is at Plot No. 39 in the TTC-MIDC Industrial Area, over in Ganpati Pada, Kalwa. It’s a proper industrial setting. Eric Apparel Pvt. Ltd. occupies this space, and it’s usually humming with activity. We have rows of machines and people busy with different parts of the assembly. The air inside can get a bit warm because of all the equipment, but we keep the windows open when we can. There is a lot of dust from the fabric, so we try to keep things as clean as possible, though it’s a losing battle most days. We get our materials delivered in big bundles, and then it’s all about getting the patterns cut right. We don't spend money on fancy signs or expensive furniture. We’d rather have good needles and reliable motors for the machines. The area around Ganpati Pada is always busy with other factories, so there is a constant sound of traffic and industry. We have a small kettle in the corner for making tea, which is pretty much the fuel for the afternoon shift. Most of us live nearby, so the commute isn't too bad. We just focus on getting the garments done and packed into the shipping crates. It’s a lot of repetitive movement, but we’ve got a good rhythm going. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't, just a bunch of people making clothes in a busy industrial plot.
