Venus Engineers

Our workshop is over at No-6, Sankul, which is the old SBI building on Nashik Road. We are really close to St Philips Church, so it is a very easy landmark for anyone trying to find Venus Engineers. The building is a bit old and has high ceilings, which stays fairly cool even when the sun is out. We spend most of our time at the back where the machines are. It is a noisy place when we are working on a project, but we like the hum of the equipment. There are just four of us here, and we have worked together for a long time. Our desks are usually covered in greasy handprints and stacks of blueprints that we need to go over. We don't have a secretary or anyone to answer the phones, so we just pick it up when we aren't too busy with a tool. It is a very practical kind of life. Sometimes the church bells ring while we are in the middle of a job, and it reminds us of the time. People from the neighborhood often drop by to ask if we can fix small things for them. We try to help out when we can, though our main work takes up most of the day. We aren't trying to be some big corporate firm. We just want to do decent engineering work from our small spot in the old bank building.
