The Plaza

This place sits right on the Mumbai-Agra Highway, at S.No.910/2. It’s a long stretch of road, so we see a lot of people just passing through. Some are truck drivers, others are families on a long road trip. The building isn't anything modern, just a solid structure that's been standing for some time. We have rooms for people who are too tired to keep driving at night. The fans in the rooms work okay, and we try to keep the sheets clean. It gets dusty because of all the trucks going by outside. We spend a lot of time sweeping the front area. The kitchen is busy most of the day since people eat at odd hours when they travel. Sometimes we run out of something on the menu if the supply truck is late, but we usually manage to figure it out. It's not a luxury stay by any means. It’s more of a place where you stop because you need a break. The parking lot is big enough for a few cars and bigger vehicles too. At night, it gets a bit quieter, but you can still hear the distant sound of tires on the pavement. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who handle the front desk and the cleaning. It’s a simple life here on the highway. We see a lot of faces once and then never again. We usually have the tea kettle going all day for the weary travelers. The sign out front flickers a bit, but people find us anyway.
