It’s a niche business, but it’s what we have been doing for a long time. The smell of the betel nuts and spices is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It’s a small space, mostly filled with jars and bags of different types of supari. We have the plain ones, the flavored ones, and all the mixtures people like to chew after a meal. I spend a lot of time sorting through the stock to make sure everything is okay. It’s a bit of a traditional trade. We don't have many fancy gadgets here, just a simple counter and some stools for when friends drop by to chat. The location near the talkies means we get a lot of foot traffic when a movie lets out. People stop by for a quick purchase before heading home. It gets quite busy during the marriage season because people need larger quantities. I handle the sales mostly by myself. It’s not a glamorous job, but it is steady. The road outside is always full of vehicles and noise, but inside the shop, it’s just the same routine every day. We just focus on what we know best and keep the jars filled. I guess you could say we've become a fixture of this street.
