Kawade Kirana & General Store

Kawade Kirana & General Store sits in Vir Savarkar Nagar, which is in the Shivaji Nagar part of Nashik Road. We are directly across from the Masoba Mandir on Jail Road. On Tuesdays and Saturdays, it gets very crowded because of the temple visitors. Many people stop by to buy small things after they finish their prayers. We have all the usual household stuff, like soaps, shampoos, and cooking ingredients. I also keep some pooja items because of our location near the temple. The shop has an old wooden counter that’s seen better days, but it’s sturdy. I spend a lot of time organizing the small packets of spices so they are easy to reach. Nashik can be quite chilly in the mornings, so I usually have a hot cup of tea waiting for me when I open the shutters at seven. The neighbors are good people, and we often talk about the weather or the local news while I’m weighing their sugar. My daughter helps me with the accounts in the evenings because my handwriting isn't very clear anymore. We don't have any fancy signs or bright lights, just a simple board with the name. It's a humble place, and we just focus on making sure the shelves are never completely empty when someone comes looking for their weekly supplies. It’s a steady routine that we have followed for a long time.
