Kamad Masale

Kamad Masale is located out in Nilgursar village. We are situated right near the Vithal Rukmani Mandir, which is a big local landmark for anyone passing through the area. Since we are right on the Mumbai-Shirdi Highway, we see a lot of travelers and pilgrims going by every single day. It’s a rural area, so things move a bit slower out here than they do in the big cities. We handle all our spices right here in the village. You can often smell the masala being ground up if the wind is blowing the right way toward the road. It’s a very local operation through and through. Most of the people working here are from right around the village or the neighboring farms. We don't have a corporate office or a polished showroom with lights. It’s more of a workshop and a storage space for our goods. We use traditional methods where we can because that's how we've always done it. The highway brings some noise from the trucks, but otherwise, it's pretty peaceful around the temple. We focus on getting the spice blends just right. Sometimes we sell to people who stop their cars on their way to Shirdi. It’s a humble setup, but it’s ours. We’ve been here for a long time and the locals know us well. We don't do much advertising. People just find us by word of mouth or by seeing our sign.
