Gajanan General Stores

Our shop sits right near the Sailani Baba Stop on Jail Road, which is quite a common place for people living around Nashik Road. If you are heading towards the Shivaji Statue, you will probably see our sign. It is a general store, so we try to keep a bit of everything. From washing powder to snacks for the kids, we have it all stacked up. The area gets pretty crowded in the evenings when people are heading back from work. That is usually our busiest time. The shop itself is quite old-fashioned with wooden shelves and a stone floor. We don't have air conditioning or anything, so the summer months can get a bit hot inside. We spend a lot of time talking to the regulars about local things while we weigh their items. It’s not just about selling things; it’s about being part of the neighborhood. Sometimes the delivery guys don't show up on time, and we have to manage with whatever we have left. We do all the work ourselves, from cleaning the glass jars to keeping the books. We don't use any complicated software for our accounts. It's all done by hand in a notebook. People seem to like that we are just a normal, local store. We aren't trying to compete with the big supermarkets in the city. We just want to make sure the people who live nearby can find what they need close to home.
