Gaikwad Provision

Our shop, Gaikwad Provision, is actually two shops, number 3 and 4, joined together on Saradwadi Road in Sinnar. We are right near the Maharashtra Gramin Bank. Having the extra space helps us keep more sacks of grain and bigger packs of oil. Sinnar is a growing place but it still has that small-town feel. A lot of our customers are farmers or people working at the nearby bank. I spend a lot of my time checking the weight of the bags and making sure the inventory is right. It gets quite hot in Nashik district, so we have a couple of big fans running all day. The floor is concrete and we have to wash it often because of the mud people bring in from the road. I don't use any computers for billing, just a pen and a pad. It takes a little longer but it works for me. Sometimes I have to go to the main market to pick up supplies myself when the distributors are busy. It’s a lot of driving and lifting. My brother helps me manage the two counters when it gets busy in the evenings. We sell a bit of everything, from spices to household cleaners. We don't have a lot of fancy signs, just the name of the shop above the door. It’s a simple, hardworking life here in Sinnar, and we are happy to be part of this neighborhood.
