Our shop, Ashapuri Kirana And Masala, is at Shop No-23 in Lekha Nagar. This is in the Old Cidco area of Nashik, postcode 422009. We specialize in spices and general kirana items. The smell of ground masalas is usually the first thing you notice when you walk in. We’ve been here for a long time, back when Old Cidco was a bit quieter than it is now. We still do things the old-fashioned way, weighing out spices by hand. It’s a dusty business sometimes, but we like it. The shop is tucked away in Lekha Nagar and we have a lot of regular customers who wouldn't go anywhere else for their spices. We don't use any fancy packaging, just plain bags that do the job. My son helps me with the heavier sacks of grains. We don't have a marketing plan or any big goals, we just want to keep the shop going and serve the local people who live around here. Sometimes the stock takes a while to arrive because the roads get congested. We just wait it out and keep the shelves as tidy as possible. It’s a local family business and we take pride in knowing our products well. It’s just about being here every day and making sure the neighbors get what they need for their kitchens. We don't need much more than that.
