Anupam Variety Stores

Our shop, Anupam Variety Stores, is located at House No. 95 in the Prabhu Ali Mandai area. Being near the Ganpati Mandir means we see a lot of people every single day. It’s a very local spot, and we get a lot of noise from the bells and the people visiting the temple. The store is packed with all sorts of things, which is why we call it a variety store. We don't have a big fancy layout; we just put things where they fit. Sometimes it’s hard to find something specific if you aren't used to how we organize it, but we usually know exactly where everything is. We spend most of our time behind the counter or moving boxes around. It’s a busy life here in the Mandai. We don't have a website or a marketing person. Most people just know us because they walk past every day or they live in the neighborhood. The building is an old house, so it has its quirks, like floors that aren't quite level and doors that creak. We don't mind. It feels like home to us. We stay open pretty late most days because that’s when people are coming back from work and need to pick things up. It’s hard work and your feet hurt by the end of the day, but it’s what we’ve always done. We don't bother with any of that corporate talk you hear these days.
