We have been based here at Type IV-47 in Subhashnagar for quite a while now. Even though the main office name points to Hyderabad, our daily life happens right here in Bacheli. It is a small town, and living in these quarters means you know almost everyone on the street. It is not like a big city office at all. Most days, we just deal with the paperwork and the heat that comes off the hills. The dust is everywhere because of the mining, so we are always cleaning the desks. It gets quiet in the evenings, except for the sound of the trucks in the distance. We do not have a fancy lobby or anything like that. Just a simple door and some old wooden chairs for when people stop by to drop off documents or chat about the day's work. Dantewada can be a tough place to work sometimes because the weather changes so fast, but you get used to it. The post office is just a short walk away, which is handy. We keep our files in big metal cupboards that have seen better days. It is mostly just about getting through the tasks and making sure the numbers match up at the end of the month. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just wait it out on the porch. It is a slow life, but we stay busy enough with the local coordination. Most people here work for the same company, so work and home kind of blend together after a while.
