Commandant,Cisf Unit,Nmdc, Bacheli

This is the CISF Unit for the NMDC project out here in Bacheli, specifically located at Dep-5. We are situated in the Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh, which is a very specific part of the country. My name is G C Behera and I work here as an inspector. This isn’t a regular business like a retail shop or a local cafe you might find in a town. Our whole day is centered around the security of the iron ore mine and the people who are working there every day. We live and work right here on the site in the unit quarters. It is a bit of a remote area, surrounded by thick hills and lots of trees, which feels very different from being stationed in a big city. The weather gets pretty intense during the monsoon rains, and the red dust from the iron ore seems to get on every single thing we own. We have a strict routine we follow every single day, checking the various gates and making sure the heavy equipment is where it is supposed to be. It is a serious job, but we are a very tight group of people living together here. We see the massive heavy trucks moving in and out of the site all day long. Sometimes the nights are very quiet, and other times it is very busy with the work shifts changing over. We deal with a lot of manual logs and reports.
