Chakra Cements

Working out of 6-95 on Station Road means we are always right in the middle of the action here in Arundelpet. The train station is so close that you can hear the whistles and the announcement speakers all day long. It gets quite dusty because of the cement we handle, so there’s always a thin layer of grey on the desks no matter how much we sweep. Chakra Cements is a busy operation, mostly involving moving heavy bags and managing deliveries that come in on the trucks. The building itself is an older one, and the floors are a bit uneven, but it serves its purpose for storage and sales. We don't have a showroom or anything like that. It’s just a warehouse and a small office area where we keep the ledgers. The morning sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard, so we usually keep the shutters halfway down to stay cool. There’s a lot of physical labor involved, so we’re usually pretty tired by the end of the shift. We’ve got a few regular customers who come by with their own trolleys, and we help them load up. It’s noisy, dusty, and sometimes a bit chaotic with the traffic on Station Road, but it’s the way we’ve always done things. We don't try to make it look like something it isn't; it’s just a place for cement.
