We set up Longding Agro Organic Producer Companylimited over in Mopakhat. It’s a part of Kanubari that we know very well because we’ve spent so much time on this land. Everything we do is focused on the organic side of farming. It is a lot more work than the regular way because you have to pay more attention to the soil and the bugs. We don't use the heavy chemicals that some of the big outfits use. It’s just us and the dirt. Mopakhat is a quiet place for the most part, which is good for growing things. We spend most of our hours outside, checking the plants or talking to the other growers in the area. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s a steady one. Sometimes the crop doesn't turn out exactly how we planned, but that's just nature. We don't try to hide the mistakes; we just learn for the next season. The roads out here in Kanubari can be rough when it rains, so getting things to town takes some patience. We are just a group of local people trying to keep the old ways of farming alive while making a living. It’s honest work and we are proud of what we manage to grow in these fields. No big corporate offices here, just a shed and the open sky. We hope the land stays good for the next generation.
