Sivasakthi Masala

Door number 99 on Namakkal Main Road is where you will find us. We are right in Malaiyadevaram. Sivasakthi Masala is what we do every day. The main road is always busy with buses and lorries passing by. The noise never really stops. Inside, we have the grinders going. They make a loud humming sound that you get used to after a week. We deal with all sorts of masalas. The red chili powder is the hardest to work with because it gets in your throat. We wear masks but it still finds a way. We have been here for years. The building is old and the walls have some cracks, but it stays cool inside. The locals stop by to buy a few packets. We don't have a fancy showroom. It is just a counter and the sacks of spices behind us. We spend a lot of time drying things out in the sun when the weather is clear. If it looks like rain, everyone rushes out to cover the piles. It is a simple life. We don't use computers much, mostly just notebooks and pens for the accounts. My cousin helps with the heavy lifting. We like being on the main road because people can see us easily. It’s just a regular business doing regular work. Sometimes the grinder breaks and we spend the whole night fixing it. We just do what needs to be done.
