You can find us at 105 North Thirumalai Giri, over in the Kalappanaicken Patty area of Namakkal. We are right near the Mariamman Kovil, which is the main landmark everyone uses to find the street. The sound of the temple bells and the local traffic is always in the background here. Being a driving school in this part of Tamil Nadu means we deal with a lot of narrow roads and plenty of scooters. Our office is a simple room where we keep the registers and the keys. There is a picture of the goddess on the wall and a small lamp we light every morning. The chairs are the plastic kind that you see everywhere. We have a few cars that we keep as clean as we can, though the dust always finds a way in. Teaching people to drive here takes a lot of patience, especially when they are nervous about the turns near the temple. We mostly get people from the surrounding villages who need a license for work or just to get around. It isn't a high-tech operation; we just sit in the passenger seat and guide them through the gears. Sometimes we stop for a break under the big tree down the road. It’s a decent life, helping the local people get their independence on the road. We’ve been at this spot for years and don't plan on moving.
