S R Fisheries

Down here at S R Fisheries, we spend a lot of our time around the water. We are based in Saiprathap Nagr, over in Jangala Colony in the Anumula area near Haliya. It is a bit of a walk from the main road, but we like it that way because it’s quieter for the work we do. We mostly deal with local fish and keeping everything fresh for the people who come to buy from us. It is not a shiny, modern shop. It is more of a practical place where we keep the nets, the tanks, and the supplies we need for the day. Some mornings we have to start way before the sun is up to get things ready for the market. It’s messy work, and you definitely end the day smelling like the ponds, but we don't mind it much. We have lived in Haliya for a long time, so we know what kind of fish the locals prefer for their meals. We don’t spend money on big signs or ads. We just focus on the fish and making sure we have enough to go around for everyone who stops by. People from Jangala Colony and even further away know to come to us when they want something specific. It is a small team of us here, and we just take things one day at a time, depending on what the season brings. It is a decent way to make a living and stay connected to the community.
