Our facility is spread out over Survey No. 1136- 1137 on the Main Road. It’s a large area because parboiling rice takes up a lot of room. Ram Laxman Par Boiled Rice Pvt. Ltd. has been operating here for years now. We have the big tanks for soaking the rice and the steam pipes that run all through the building. It gets very humid inside, especially during the middle of the day. You can see the steam rising from the roof from quite a distance on the Main Road. We have many people working here in different shifts to keep the boilers going. The ground around Survey No. 1136- 1137 is always covered in husks and bits of straw. It’s a heavy industrial job and we all wear boots because the floors are often wet. Trucks are constantly backing in and out to deliver the raw paddy or take away the finished bags. It is a very loud environment with the sound of the steam and the heavy loaders moving around. We don't have a lot of time for sitting around. There is always a valve to turn or a bag to sew shut. The office is just a small room at the front with some old metal chairs and a calendar on the wall. We focus on the daily tonnage and making sure the boilers don't have any issues. It's a tough but simple business.
