You will find Raja Rajeshwari Handlooms at No. 7-3/1 on M.G. Road in Bhoodan Pochampally. We have been operating from this same spot for a good number of years now. The shop is always full of the smell of fresh cotton and the noise of the traffic on M.G. Road. Being on the main road means we get to see a lot of different people walking by every day. It is a very basic setup inside the shop. We have wooden shelves that are stacked high with all the different handloom pieces we have in stock. Most of our day is spent taking things down, showing them to people, and then folding them back up again. It is a lot of physical work but we are used to it by now. We do not have fancy lights or air conditioning, just some old fans that keep the air moving around. The sunlight comes in through the front door and shows off the colors of the sarees and fabrics. Sometimes we just sit on a stool out front when there are no customers around to talk to. Pochampalli is a town where everyone knows about weaving, so we do not have to say much to explain what we have. We just show people the stock and let them decide for themselves. It is a family-style business and we know where everything is kept. It is a steady life here.
