About Venkateshwara Handloom – Fashion & Trends in Nalgonda
We’ve been here at 3/136 in Raghunathpuram for a long time now. My father started this and now I'm the one spending most of my days looking at the looms. It’s a bit dusty and loud when the machines are going, but that is just how it is with handloom work. We make cloth mostly, things people around here need for their homes or for making clothes. There isn't a fancy office or anything like that, just the workspace and the stacks of thread we keep in the corner. Some days are busier than others. If the power goes out, we just wait or work by the light from the door. It’s hard work on the back and hands, but we know the threads and how they should feel. Neighbors stop by sometimes just to see what’s on the loom today. We don't have a big sign or anything, everyone in Raghunathpuram just knows where we are located. Sometimes the orders pile up and we have to work late into the evening, but we get it done eventually. It is just a small place, really. We keep the floor swept but the lint always finds a way back. That is life in a textile workshop. We just keep doing what we know, day after day. It's nothing fancy, just honest work that feels right to us.
