Mothya Animal Production

If you look for house 56 in Kadapagandi Tanda near Janagam, you will find our place. My name is Mothya and I handle the animal production here. It’s a very local, family-run thing that we have been doing for generations. We have a mix of animals and they all require different kinds of care. The cows need a lot of space and feed, while the goats are a bit easier but more prone to wandering off. We spend a lot of our time making sure the fences are strong and the predators stay away. The weather in Janagam can be quite harsh, with very little rain some years. This makes it hard to find enough grass, so we often have to travel to get fodder. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting heavy bags of grain and cleaning out the stalls. We don’t have any fancy technology to help us out. We rely on our hands and our experience. My kids help out when they can, but mostly it is a one-man show. We don’t have an official office or any polished marketing. If you want to talk to me, you’ll probably find me in the shed with a shovel or a bucket. It’s a humble way to live, but it’s honest and it keeps us fed. We take pride in just getting through the daily chores and keeping the animals in good shape throughout the seasons.
