Hasli Fruit Shop

You can find us at New Seethya Thanda in Vailla Palli if you are looking for us. It is a simple fruit shop where we sell whatever is in season at the time. We get our fruit from the local markets and sometimes directly from the growers who live around here. The shop itself is not very big, but we try to keep it clean and keep the fruit looking good on the shelves. We have wooden crates stacked up all over the place and we spend a lot of time sorting through everything to make sure nothing is going soft or bad. The smell of oranges and mangoes is always around the shop depending on the month of the year. People from the Thanda walk over to pick up what they need for their families every day. We do not have fancy displays, just the fruit out where you can see it and smell it for yourself. My family helps me out, especially when it gets busy in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work. We use a small metal scale to weigh everything and we keep the cash in a little box under the counter. It is a loud place sometimes with people talking or kids running around the front. We stay open until the sun goes down and most of the fruit is gone. It is a simple way to make a living and we like seeing the regular customers.
