About Abbaiah Pulses Cultivation – Agriculture & Farming in Nalgonda
We spend most of our days out in the fields growing different kinds of pulses. Our home is at 5-114/1 in Harijanawada, Jangam. This has been our family work for a long time. Growing pulses depends a lot on the rain and the soil. Some years are good and some are a bit tough when the water is low. We don't use many fancy tools, just the regular farming methods we learned from our elders. It is mostly manual labor from morning until the sun goes down. We have to watch the crops closely for pests or if they need more water. Once the harvest is done, we spend time cleaning and sorting everything. You can find us at the house in Jangam if we aren't at the farm. It is a quiet life. We don't have a big store. We just grow what we can and sell it to whoever needs it. The pulses are a staple here so there is always work to be done. We take pride in the dirt under our fingernails. Sometimes the market prices go up and down which makes things stressful but we keep at it because it's what we know. Neighbors often stop by to talk about the weather or the crop prices. That is how things are in Harijanawada. It is just honest work in the dirt and mud. We hope for a good monsoon every year so the pulses grow tall.
