Jai Mata Steel Center

Our shop Jai Mata Steel Center is on the main road in Khachiya Tola. If you are looking for us, we are right near the Axis Bank ATM. It’s a good landmark because the ATM always has a line of people. We sell all kinds of steel utensils and items for the kitchen. The noise from the main road is constant and loud. You hear the horns and the buses all day long. Inside it’s a bit quieter but the steel clangs whenever we move things around. Saidapet is a busy area and we have been part of this street for quite some time now. The shelves are packed with plates, pots, and buckets. Everything is made of good steel. We don't go in for fancy displays or lighting. We just stack them up so people can see the different sizes. Sometimes the dust from the road comes in, so we are always dusting the shine back onto the pots. It’s a family business. My uncle sits at the front usually. He knows exactly how much a bucket should weigh just by looking at it. We don't use a computer for billing, just a simple pad and pen. It works for us. Customers come in looking for wedding gifts or stuff for their own kitchens. We just show them what we have on the shelves. It’s a practical way to spend the day. Nothing too complicated about it. We close up when the street lights come on.
