Malhotra Marble

Malhotra Marble has been set up here in Kirpalpur Village for quite a while now. We are located in the Nalagarh Tehsil area of Solan District and most people around here know where to find us. The shop is not anything fancy, just a place where we keep our stock and talk to people from the surrounding villages who are building their homes. It gets pretty dusty out here in the yard because of all the stone cutting and moving things around with the trucks. We spend most of our mornings just organizing the slabs and making sure the pieces haven't cracked during the unloading process. The weather in Solan can be a bit unpredictable so we have to watch the slabs when it starts raining heavily. Working with marble is heavy business and our backs usually feel it by the end of the day. We don't have a big team or anything, just a few of us making sure things run okay. People stop by on their way through the village to see what we have in the yard. Sometimes they stay for a long time looking at different patterns in the stone and other times they just want to know the price per foot. We try to keep things simple and just show what is available. It is a basic way of living but it keeps us busy enough throughout the year. We are just local people doing this work for the long term.
