Masala Udhyog

Our place is right at Plot No-432 in the Sabji Mandi area of Haldwani. Being near the Paid Padav Post Office makes it easy for mail, but the traffic near the vegetable market is always a mess. You have to navigate through carts and trucks just to get to our door. We do all our grinding and mixing right here on Bareilly Road. It gets very loud when the motors are running. The smell of turmeric and coriander gets into your clothes and stays there. We don't mind it, but visitors usually sneeze a few times. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to deal with that right now. We have a small team of workers from the local neighborhood. We eat lunch together in the back corner. The floor is concrete and often stained from the different spice oils. We just focus on getting the masalas packed into packets. We don't have a fancy showroom. If you want to buy something, you just come to the side window. It's a bit chaotic with the noise from the Mandi outside, but it feels alive. We’ve been here for years and the routine hasn't changed much. We just keep the machines going and fill the bags. On rainy days, the smell of damp earth and strong spices is something you never forget. We work through it.
