Anapurna Provisions

Our place is right in the middle of Bazar Chowk in Ram Nagar. It is called Anapurna Provisions because we mostly focus on food items and kitchen supplies. Being in the bazar means it’s always crowded and there are people shouting and bells ringing from the nearby stalls. We have large sacks of rice and lentils sitting on the floor because there isn't enough shelf space for the heavy stuff. The morning is our busiest time when the local ladies come out to do their daily shopping. We spend a lot of time scooping out grains and weighing them on the scale. The shop has been in the family for a bit and we haven't changed much about how it looks. There are old wooden cabinets and some glass jars for the smaller items like cloves or cardamom. It can get very hot in the middle of the day, so we usually sit under the fan and wait for the evening crowd. We don't do any advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here at the chowk. We talk a lot with the other shopkeepers about how business is going and who is moving into the neighborhood. It’s a tight-knit community here in Ram Nagar. We just try to keep the stocks full and the prices fair so people keep coming back for their monthly groceries. It’s a simple job but it keeps us very busy.
