Yamuna Kirana Stores

Yamuna Kirana Stores is tucked away in the Chitor Oli area of Mahal in Nagpur. This is one of the older parts of the city, and you can really feel that history when you walk through the narrow streets. Our shop has been here for a long time, and we mostly deal in kirana items, which are the basic groceries like rice, lentils, and flour. We are located in the heart of Mahal, so it’s a very busy place with a lot of tradition. The store itself is quite old-fashioned. We have wooden drawers for different spices and large containers for the grains. It smells like a mix of cumin and turmeric inside, which is something we’ve just grown used to over the years. Nagpur can get incredibly hot in the summer, and the shop stays a bit cooler because of the thick old walls, though we still keep the fans running at full speed. We don’t have fancy packaging for everything; a lot of items are measured out by weight and put into plain bags. Our customers are mostly regulars who have been coming to Chitor Oli for decades. They know they can find the basic stuff here without any fuss. We don’t do any big promotions or anything like that. It’s just about being here every day, opening the doors, and serving the 440002 community with the simple things they need for their daily meals. It’s a steady, quiet way of doing business.
