Wasekar Daily Needs

We run this small daily needs shop out of Shanti Sadan, which is house number 8 in the Bezonbagh area of Nagpur. It is a quiet neighborhood and most of the people who come in are our neighbors who we have known for years. We open up early because people need their milk and bread before they go to work or send the kids to school. The shop isn't very big, so we have to cram a lot of things onto the shelves. We carry the usual stuff like soap, biscuits, flour, and whatever else people realize they forgot to buy at the big market. It is mostly just family running the place. Sometimes my kids help out after school or my wife stays at the counter while I go to pick up more stock. We don't have a computer for billing or anything like that. We just know the prices and use a notebook if someone wants to pay at the end of the month. The heat in Nagpur gets really bad in April and May, so we have a small fan behind the counter that doesn't do much. People stop by not just to buy things but sometimes just to talk about the weather or local news. It is a simple life and the shop keeps us connected to everyone in Bezonbagh. We just try to keep the shelves full and the floor clean.
