Volga Coffee House

We are located at Volga House on Eye Hospital Road in the Civil Lines area. It’s an old building, you can tell by the walls and the way the doors sound. Being near the eye hospital means we see a lot of people waiting around or coming in after appointments. It’s a bit of a serious neighborhood because of all the government offices and the hospital stuff nearby. Civil Lines has that quiet feel to it compared to the rest of the city. We try to keep the place tidy. There’s a lot of history in this building, even if it doesn’t look like much from the outside. The rooms are high-ceilinged. Sometimes the light fixtures flicker a bit but we just live with it. It’s got that old-fashioned atmosphere that you don't find much anymore. We open up early and stay until the sun goes down. Most of our regulars are people who work in the nearby offices. They’ve been coming here for years. We know their names and what they like. It’s a slow pace of life at Volga Coffee House. We don't rush anyone. You can sit with a paper and nobody will bother you. It’s just a steady, quiet place to be. We keep the coffee going and wait for the next person to walk through the door. The traffic outside is the only thing that reminds us we are in the middle of a city. It is what it is.
