Shor Taxtile

Being on Hariyali Road means there is never a quiet moment. Shor Taxtile is right there near the Shani Mandir Chowk, and the foot traffic is pretty much constant. We have rolls of fabric stacked from the floor to the ceiling. Sometimes it feels like the whole shop is made of cloth. We spend our days unrolling these fabrics for people to touch and see. Sitabuldi is a busy market area, so we are always moving. We have to keep the dust off the top rolls, which is a never-ending job. The light from the street comes in through the front, but we have bright tubes inside so people can see the colors clearly. Near Shani Mandir Chowk, the noise of horns and people talking is just part of the background. We have a big wooden counter where we do all the cutting and folding. It is worn smooth from years of use. We know most of the other shopkeepers on Hariyali Road. We drink tea from the same guy every afternoon. It is a tight space, but we know exactly where every type of textile is hidden. We don't use a lot of fancy technology here. We just use our eyes and our hands to check the quality. It is a very direct way of working. Most of our day is spent helping people find the right shade or texture. When the sun goes down, we start putting everything back in its place.
