Shreenath Kirana & General Stores

Shreenath Kirana & General Stores sits right at Bhawsar Chowk on Central Avenue Road in Nagpur. You can see us clearly because we are directly opposite Hotel India Sun. It is a good landmark for people who aren't from this side of town. We have been operating out of this spot for a long time. It is a general store, so we carry a bit of everything, from soap and shampoo to bags of flour and sugar. The shop is often a bit dusty because of the traffic on C A Road, but that is just how it is in this part of the city. We don't bother with fancy decorations. We just want to make sure when a neighbor comes in looking for something for dinner, we have it on the shelf. My brother and I manage the stock and the billing. It gets a bit hectic during the festival seasons when everyone is buying supplies. We know the rickshaw drivers and the office workers who pass by every morning. It is a bit of a tight squeeze inside when we have a lot of stock delivered, but we manage. Nagpur is a hot place, so we keep the fans going all day. We just try to be helpful and keep the shop running like it always has. There is no point in complicating things. We just open up and wait for the customers to come in. Most days it works out just fine. We shut the doors around nine.
