Salman General Store

Salman General Store is found in the Taj Building on Umred Road in Nagpur, right next to Kohinoor Bakery. One of the best things about being here is the smell of fresh bread that comes from the bakery next door every morning. It makes the workday a lot more pleasant. The shop itself is a typical neighborhood store where we keep all the things you might need for your kitchen or bathroom. We have shelves lining both sides of the narrow space, and it can get a bit tight when more than a couple of people are inside. We know most of the faces that walk through the door because they are people who live in the surrounding lanes. The traffic on Umred Road is always moving, so there is a constant background of engines and horns. We have a small wooden counter where we do all the billing by hand. The tiles on the floor are quite old and some have chips in them from when we move the heavy soda crates around. We don't have any fancy cooling systems, just the open door and a small desk fan. The inventory changes depending on what we can get from the wholesalers each week. We try to keep a good mix of items so that our neighbors don't have to go far for their daily shopping. When evening comes, we start tidying up the stacks and prepare to close for the night.
