Ramgad Farmers Producer Company is located in Village Kondhali, which is in the Katol tehsil of Nagpur district. We are at House Number 564. It’s a typical village setting where everyone is involved in agriculture. We have been working together as a group of farmers for some time now. The office is just a part of the house really. We meet there to talk about the harvest and what the market looks like in Nagpur. It is a long drive to the city, so we try to handle as much as we can locally. We have a lot of orange orchards in this area, so that takes up most of our time. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a few hours, which slows down our record keeping. We use simple ledgers and sometimes a mobile phone to keep in touch with buyers. It is not a polished operation. We have dirt on our boots most days. The goal is just to make sure the farmers in Kondhali get a fair shake. We sit around on the porch sometimes after work and just talk. It’s a very community-driven thing. We don’t have any big slogans or marketing plans. We just know the land and we know the people. Working together at House 564 is just how we manage to get things done every season. It is a lot of hard work but we are used to it.
