Om Sai Ganeral Store

Om Sai Ganeral Store is located on Kalamna Road in the Pardi area of Nagpur. We are situated right opposite the Gokul Dairy in Bharat Nagar. The road outside is always busy with vehicles, and the dust from the traffic often blows into the shop. I spend a lot of my morning just dusting the shelves and making sure the packets of biscuits and snacks look presentable. We carry all the basic stuff like soap, tea, matches, and different kinds of pulses. It’s a small shop, so things are stacked pretty high to make use of the space. I've been in this neighborhood for many years and I know most of the people who walk past every day. Sometimes they stop just to say hello or to ask about someone in the family. The Nagpur summer can be very difficult, so I have a small fan that stays on all day behind the counter. The shop has a simple metal shutter that I pull down every night. It’s not a fancy business with bright lights or advertisements. It’s just a place where you can pick up a few things you need for your kitchen or your home. I keep a small notebook to write down what I need to order for the next week. The floor is just plain cement and the walls are painted a light color that has faded over time. It’s a quiet life here most of the time, even with all the noise from Kalamna Road.
