Ambika Ply & Doors

You can find us at 26 New Subhedar, right in the Gaurang Apartment building. We’re actually directly opposite the Gajanan High School, so it gets very loud and busy when the school bell rings in the afternoon. We work with plywood and doors mostly. The whole space is usually filled with the smell of cut wood and sometimes a bit of sawdust in the air. We have stacks of different wood sheets and heavy door frames leaning against the walls. It’s a bit of a maze inside if you don't know where you are going. We spend most of the day measuring things out or talking to people about what they need for their new houses or renovations. It’s a local spot, so we know a lot of the families around New Subhedar. The apartment building is quite easy to spot once you get onto this particular stretch of road. We don't have a big marketing team or anyone like that; it’s just us doing the physical work every day. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time finding a spot to park because of the school buses, but we usually manage to figure it out. We’ve been here long enough that most local people just know us as the ply shop across from the school. It’s steady work and we like the routine of it. We keep the shop open until late. It is just what we do every day.
